The Special Investigations Unit have begun the new appeals process aimed at pushing forward missing persons cases. The new process, which is being rolled out in stages, aims to provide a more in-depth approach to how missing persons cases are dealt with.
The first phase of the plan is to ensure that missing persons cases are highlighted across social media, with the aim of a bigger reach and new information. The background part of the process however is slightly different. Each missing persons case will actively be investigated. This means that each case will have an active agent who will work towards obtaining new information and working with relevant authorities when needed.
It has also been announced that the appeals process will include video appeals to which the SIU will work closely with Creative Productions Unit, who are also set to give an update this week on future plans.
