The Bureau has officially launched an investigation into big cat sightings after multiple reports emerged regarding sightings.
13 confirmed sightings alone in Wales this year with a further 26 in England. Big cat sightings have been reported for decades, however it seems reports are increasing and now the Bureau wants to fully investigate this to confirm whether these reports are genuine.
In a statement given by the Bureau, “These sightings have had a profound increase and it would be absolutely wrong of us to ignore this. We need to confirm whether these sightings are in fact genuine, and potentially map out the territory in which these big cats are using and how we can ensure the protection of that. We are not investigating this to cause harm or distress to these animals, but instead to get a better understanding of their patterns and how we can ensure their safety is preserved. This is something we have approached with extreme caution and can confirm that last week we deployed agents across the UK to begin investigating the reported areas, however safety for our agents is important and each was advised of the safety measures in the event of an encounter.”
The Bureau is set to continue this investigation for some time and monitor the reports that come in to ensure their authenticity.
