A Year in Review

Here at the Bureau, 2025 is almost over, but, what a year it has been. So, let’s break it down to see how it all went.

Easier to join – Previously the joining application was an 8 tier process, which for some time worked, however we decided that it was a bit much and eventually lifted the tiers and made it so much more simpler for people to join from across the world.
HIU shutdown and comeback – Earlier in the year, the Historical Investigations Unit closed down to distribute some of it’s services to other units, however, later in the year it was announced that the HIU would be returning in the new year under new guidelines and services.
Explorations – For the very first time, an entire spring/summer season was dedicated for explorations of new locations of interests for both an archaeology and paranormal point of view. Items were also collected during these explorations. It is now expected that the HIU will host all explorations from January 2026.
The sharks – In May of 2025, a series of mutilations were discovered on a stretch of coast concerning a species and relative of shark. After a month long investigation, no answers were found, however further time was granted and a full report is still yet to be published.
New senior agents – Each unit now has dedicated senior agents to help direct and lead each unit to their full potential. It is expected that more seniors will be promoted, or taken on in 2026.
Major website update – There was a huge update surrounding our website to make it more accessible and more news like to keep everyone updated on not just the cases we investigate but also stories from around the world both past and present.
YouTube show The all female show, The Women & the Weird, made it’s debut this year, airing 5 episodes, however, after discussion, the show was suddenly axed. Later in the year, the show returned for it’s Christmas special which is set to debut on Christmas day, and it was also announced that a new season 2 will be available in 2026 with an extended 12 episode season to reflect on season 1 losing episodes.
Cold – This year also saw the debut of the brand new series cold, highlighting the cold cases that we currently deal with.
New sponsorship program launched – This feature which was introduced a short time ago allows us to add sponsors to each article that we publish on this website, allowing our sponsors to reach a new audience. This feature is set to remain in place.
Investigations – 2025 saw a huge increase in physical investigations meaning more boots to the ground were placed in order to help gather evidence for the paranormal field of investigation. There is still however some investigations that have not been published yet but they are expected to be available on both the website and social platforms as content soon.
Brand new store – Finally, we managed to finish building our brand new online store which is designed for both members and non-members. It is set to be fully released as an announcement soon.
Funding – Funding was secured later in the year for 2026. The funding will cover a new vehicle for use for investigations and new equipment.
The SIU – The Special Investigations Unit launched a new service investigating and disrupting scammers. A new dedicated team to this specific task was put in place.
Social Shows – Our live shows across social media platforms kicked off throughout the year and will continue into 2026. This includes the popular X space hosted on Saturdays nights as well as regular TikTok live shows. It is also planned that YouTube will play host to live investigations in 2026 as well.
Live investigations – 2025 saw it’s start of live investigations, which previously had only ever been pre-recorded. Although there were some technical issues with some of the live investigations, they proved well and will also become a popular feature for 2026. This also included live explorations.
New safety measures – New health and safety measures were also put in place to help safeguard our members. This required that on certain investigations that members would need to investigate in pairs or in a team. A new feature which will launch amongst members in 2026 will see members required to sign into a new check in system to alert the Bureau of when they would arrive on investigations as part of another new safety measure.
Close down – The Bureau saw its first ever safety shut down earlier in the year due to a high terror alert. This was the first time in history that the Bureau had introduced such a measure, however, because of safety regulations, a shut down which lasted 2 weeks was unavoidable.
Safety gear – Earlier in the year it was discussed that measures should be introduced to protect team members, particularly in the UK. It was raised that stab proof vests and a legal pepper spray could be introduced in 2026, however, this has not yet been confirmed but is part of the new safety plan heading into the new year.
Free courses – Earlier in the year the Bureau introduced 2 courses for new members or any member of the public to access for a small fee, however this was later scrapped and the courses remain free.
Cold cases – At the start of 2025, previously concluded cold cases were re-opened by the Bureau as part of a new directive approach. This meant that all cold cases would remain open indefinitely.
Member increase – 2025 saw an increase in its team members and now has plans to increase that figure by 500% in 2026. The aim is to continue to grow on an international level and to keep providing the services that it does. It will also include any new services in 2026.
A new book got in works detailing the history of the Bureau and is set to release in the new year.

So as 2025 comes to a close, the Bureau extends its thanks to all members of the team who have made it possible to continue the work that we do. We also thank our supporters who have helped to keep us going for another year.

2026 however will not only see some major changes, but also see more from us as a Bureau, and the public can expect to see not only more disclosures on cases, but also see more content across social media platforms.
