The recent wave of big cat sightings is currently sweeping the UK which has now sparked a local big cat investigation to become a UK wide case. This comes after more reports of sightings have surfaced with photographic evidence and now the Bureau will be looking into each report up and down the UK in a bid to finally end the speculation.
Big cat sightings date back for decades but in recent months, reports suggest that the big cat community is indeed breeding and thriving off UK land, however the worry is that local farmers could lose their livestock to the cats as part of their source of food.
Currently, no university or government bodies have confirmed the sightings to be genuine nor have they acknowledged that the cats exist here in the UK, but the Bureau plans over the course of the investigation obtain evidence to prove just that and to have the big cats finally recognised as part of the wildlife in the UK so protection of these can be put in place.
The other question however remains is where these big cats even came from, and there have been stories over the decades regarding this and one theory is that decades ago, a travelling circus had actually released 2-3 into the wild, however, there is no evidence to back this claim up.
The Bureau have already announced that the plan is to gather any hair and stool samples which may carry the DNA evidence. It also plans on trying to capture the big cats using video and audio equipment.
