Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is a large, hairy, ape-like creature that some people believe roams the forests of North America, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. The name “Bigfoot” comes from the large footprints the creature is said to leave behind.
The legend of Bigfoot dates back to the 19th century, with the first documented sighting reported in 1811 by British explorer David Thompson. However, the modern Bigfoot craze began in the late 1950s, when a series of large footprints were discovered in northern California.
Since then, there have been numerous reported sightings of Bigfoot, and the creature has become a popular figure in folklore and pop culture. Some people believe that Bigfoot is a real, undiscovered species of primate, while others think it is a myth or a hoax.
Despite many reported sightings and some photographic evidence, there is no conclusive proof that Bigfoot exists. The scientific community generally regards Bigfoot as a myth or a misidentification of known animals, such as bears or humans.
Sightings of this elusive creature however are on the increase and it is now becoming a more common thing to encounter one whether from distance or up close.
The above chart shows the activity of 2023/2024 alone and has produced alarming results, however the existence of the cryptid has still yet to proven conclusively despite the amount of evidence that has already been produced, so what needs to happen to officially confirm this? Well for a start, the capture of one would certainly be the biggest breakthrough, however this has proved to be near to impossible, which leads to another way in which conclusive evidence can be used, and that would take us to finding a deceased body of one, but again lady luck is not on the side of this as no one has ever managed to find one.
Although some people claim to have photographed bodies, they are still inconclusive due to the elaborate hoaxes that go on. Although there is something that we still have in which we could place within the conclusion zone, which is not footprints believe it not, but hair samples which have been documented. The hair samples that have been collected over the years have proven to be inconclusive, meaning that they could not be identified, so is this the proof we need? Although it seems to be pointing that way, it is till not enough.
Sightings certainly have increased not just in the United States and Canada, but all over the world including Europe and the United Kingdom. One theory that has been brought to the table is that these creatures may be inter-dimensional, which would explain why it has been so difficult to track them. Many believe that the legendary bigfoot is in fact of alien origin, as some have even been reported near and even boarding unidentified craft (UAPs/UFOs), which again would explain why they are so elusive.
The quest however to prove their existence will continue and until we can gather the all important evidence needed, it is a matter of a very long waiting game.
