Whilst significant changes are being made within the Bureau, a statement from the CE was made regarding those changes. “Firstly, I need to address the current changes being made within the organisation. Previous policies and NDA’s have been scrapped to recognised the volunteer work of others and this can only be done by removing these restrictions. It is highly unfair that expectations from the volunteers should be set so high which was previously in place and I had to act to change that. The previous decisions ultimately fell to myself and I must take accountability for that. Secondly, I must issue a formal apology to two former board members. During my time away, these board members had stepped i to take over through extremely tough times, and for that I am forever grateful. Upon return, it seems my decisions were not accurate, and I lost two board members because of those decisions. I must take full accountability for that and have already taken actions to reflect those decisions both professionally and personally. During time of reflection, I realise now that my actions had consequences and I must be the one to ensue these major changes happen. The restrictions have been lifted, the units have complete power to run without interference, policies axed, and the NDA removed. The other decisions that were made was business partnerships have now been severed. Previous decisions made by myself were wrong, and I must take that into account. This time, I have listened, I have made changes and will continue to do so for the benefit of everyone. The new voting system means everyone has their say in how things are done. This is a chance at a new era, a new start and a much better system which should have been in place in the first place, however my decisions prevented that from happening. Now, I must take on board the comments made by previous members, current members and of course future members. To those we lost, I apologies for the actions I took, and will move in a direction that is right and fair.”
It seems that the Bureau will now enter an era that is fairer for everyone, and by the introduction of the voting system, and the less restrictive policies on all units means that all members are now recognised as volunteers who give their time freely.
