The new Anti-Scam Unit has soared in success after recently splitting from the Special Investigations Unit with scam cases being added on a daily basis, but due to the sheer volume of cases that are coming in, the Bureau had to make the decision to appoint two brand new leads to take charge.
During this week, two of its male agents were nominated t6o take the senior roles, but it seems that this particular unit will need to continue to grow.
After successfully boarding six new members it was decided that due to the volume of cases, the team needs to expand again into a double figure volume in order to handle the case load.
Recently there has been a huge surge in scammers taking to social media to look for vulnerable people to take money from, however the team is actively working around the clock to disrupt these scams as much as possible.
It has also been discussed to re-introduce a former investigative program that was last run 6 years ago as a separate entity which specifically dealt with cyber bullying and harassment. The plan would be to introduce this back to the Bureau under the Anti-Scam Unit since these generally occur online. It has also been discussed further about bringing on an animal abuse investigative program after a number of incidents were found on a particular social media platform. This would mean that any reports received, the team would gather the evidence and have the animal in question removed as they had previously done with a known scammer.
The unit w3hich is less than two weeks old has already become one of the most successful and busiest units to date.
