The community which once stood for both scientific and genuine evidence now looks to be falling apart because of social media. Media giant TikTok has now become a notorious playground for bullying and harassment within the community, with hate pages being set up and individuals being targeted. Most claim this is because many are faking evidence, which in a way, is true, many are doing that, and why? Because of money and views. So why is this damaging to the community?
Since the Warrens were outed for using their investigative skills for money, the trend has followed decades later with the use of social media. For example, haunted museums have been popping up all over the globe, with many of them designed to be for entertainment purposes without actually telling you it is, leaving many to believe that everything within is haunted.
Another reason for the entire community falling apart is TV shows. For example, Ghost Adventures where the infamous Zak Bagans in almost every episode encountered something ‘demonic’ which as we all know is just an act, like many of the sets up they do to trick viewers into believing something is really happening.
Here’s some truth about ‘real’ investigations. Many genuine investigations take a lot of research before even visiting the locations, and even when you do may it out there, nine times out of ten you won’t even find any activity. There is also the myth about activity being more active at night rather than the day, but that is just it, a myth.
Another fact is that modern day ‘investigators’ rely on so called apps that mimic spirit boxes, but these apps are pre-loaded with words, so do they actually work? In short, no, and you can even test this yourself. In fact, if you have an app, just turn it on right now and we can promise you these pre-loaded words will start spilling out.
So back to the community, and as you can see already, it’s all adding up as to why it is failing. Today, it is more like a competition to see who gets the most views or who gets the most money, and to be honest, the hate, bullying and outright harassment that it comes with is absolutely destroying this community, so what exactly can we do to bring it back?
Okay, so hear us out for a second. So, to start off with, cut the BS from the community, single out the money hungry individuals and block them out. Secondly, leaving the genuine individuals and teams, support them. View their work, follow them, give their videos or photos or posts a like and a share. Thirdly, now this one will create some divided opinions. Now as you know, investigators will try and go anywhere for activity, this means public or private properties, but as we’ve seen over the last few years, many are breaking and entering without permission, which by the way is standard process, always seek permission. Anyway, back to it, and please hear us out. Should paranormal investigators be somewhat regulated? By that we mean somewhere where they can obtain the correct training on how to conduct investigations. How to work different pieces of equipment. How to obtain permissions to enter ground or properties. Think of it as a reward process. Somewhere to do the training. Somewhere that will have a list of places you can enter with your credentials. Well, we’ve had a think about this, and we want to do our bit to help fix the community.

So even though the community may seem like it has had it’s day, it really hasn’t, and we will do everything we can, no matter how small, to try and fix the broken pieces, and bring this community back to where it should be.
Remember, support smaller creators that are genuine, they will appreciate it more than you know. Oh, an don’t bully or harass anyone, that just isn’t cool.
