The documentary set for release in 2026 called ScamTok has undergone some major changes. The original plan was to have the show as a one off documentary, however, it has now been changed to a mini series which is set to focus on popular known scammers to give more information and awareness of the scams that are taking place.
The plan was for a special 1 hour show highlighting the most prolific scammers on the popular social media app, however, after some deliberation, it was then decided that the show will now focus on individuals in what is being called a mini series.
The series is set to be a 6 part series at 30 minutes per episode, which will highlight infamous scammers such as Mr UKTikTokOfficial who is currently now setting up a new scam in which he will receive 10% of the scam costs. This is also set to be highlighted in the show.
The importance of this series, which was approved by the SIU, is so that we can help and save people from parting with their hard earned cash and to ensure they do not fall into the trap of losing money on the basis of a scam. The SIU, which currently monitors and collects information on scammers, was set up so that evidence can be collected in the hopes that authorities can step in to put an end to these scams, however, it is also the responsibility of the platform itself to help safeguard people from these scams, however, recent research shows that the popular platform seems to be supporting these scammers instead of punishing them because of the revenue they generate, but, the SIU has now committed to fighting back and ensuring that that action is finally taken on these scammers instead of rewarding them.
The social media giant TikTok has still failed to comment on the situation and has also failed to enforce their new rules and regulations in which these known scammers are constantly breaking, which is hurting the entire community.
The SIU will also be sending the social media giant a detailed report plus evidence against these scammers in the hopes that the platform takes action and helps to put a stop to the endless scams that are occurring.
